Big Apple Bachelorette - New York Trip

Writer's picture: Gabby TurnerGabby Turner

Planning a bachelorette trip to New York City in January might sound daunting, but it turned out to be an unforgettable adventure! With a little bit of planning and a lot of enthusiasm, our trip was a huge success. Here’s a rundown of our amazing time, full of fun activities and delicious dining, that I hope will inspire your next girls' getaway!

Flight and Accommodation to New York

We kicked off our planning by snagging the best flight deals using Google Flights. Trust me, it’s a game-changer for finding affordable fares. For our stay, we opted for a cozy Airbnb studio apartment. It was the perfect home base for our city adventures, giving us the flexibility and comfort we needed.

Packing Essentials for New York in January

January in New York City can be brutally cold, especially for us southern Florida girls. We packed boots, layers, and big jackets, and I highly recommend wool socks. It even snowed while we were there, which was magical. I was very thankful that my clothes were water-resistant and that the subway was out of the elements. Getting Around the Big Apple

We made the most of the subway system, which was efficient and easy to navigate. The tap payment system is a breeze, allowing you to use your card or Apple Pay for quick access. It’s the best way to get around the city and save time. Your phone should automatically download the subway maps when you arrive in NYC. When you type in your destination, it should tell you exactly where to enter, what train to get on, any train transfers you need to make, and which exit to take out of the train station. I love technology. It made this entire trip a breeze. Remember to stay safe on the subway by not showing or talking about your money, talking about being lost, etc.

Our Weekend Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival and Iconic Landmarks

Empire State Building: We kicked off our adventure with a visit to this iconic landmark. The views from the top were stunning, giving us a breathtaking introduction to the city.

Bryant Park: After soaking in the views, we strolled to Bryant Park. Its winter charm, complete with an ice rink and winter market, made for a cozy and picturesque stop.

Museum of Natural History: Next, we explored this fascinating museum. With its vast exhibits and educational displays, it’s a must-visit for anyone interested in science and history.

Times Square: We wrapped up the day with a visit to Times Square. The energy was infectious as we wandered through the bright lights and massive billboards. Casual dining in the area capped off our evening perfectly.

Day 2: High Tea and Iconic New York Experiences

Bagels: We started the day with New York’s famous bagels. Fresh and delicious, they were the perfect start to our busy day.

Grand Central Station: Our next stop was Grand Central Station. This historic transit hub is renowned for its stunning architecture and vibrant atmosphere.

High Tea at The Plaza Hotel: A luxurious high tea at The Plaza was a highlight of the trip. Be sure to book this in advance—it's an experience that feels like stepping back in time.

Lip Lab: In the afternoon, we headed to the Lip Lab to create custom lipsticks and glosses. It’s a popular spot, so booking ahead is essential, but it’s definitely worth it!

Color Factory: We ended the day at the Color Factory, an interactive exhibit bursting with vibrant colors and fun. Each room is a sensory delight and perfect for memorable photos.

Day 3: Exploring DUMBO, Indulging and Heading Home

DUMBO: We started our final day with a visit to DUMBO. The views of the Manhattan Bridge and skyline are spectacular, and the area is perfect for a leisurely stroll.

Museum of Ice Cream: Our next stop was the Museum of Ice Cream. Although it was fun, it didn’t quite meet our expectations. It’s a sweet experience, but not a must-see.

Restaurant Week in NYC

One of the highlights of our trip was indulging in NYC’s Restaurant Week. We dined at several restaurants for a fraction of the usual cost, enjoying three and four-course meals that were absolutely delicious. It’s a fantastic way to experience the city’s culinary scene without breaking the bank. I booked all of our reservations on Open Table - an easy app that showed the regular menu and Restaurant Week menu.

For lunch the first day, we enjoyed French Roast. It was close to the train station (that we finally made it to after taking the wrong train... sorry everyone) and our other activities. Everything was absolutely delicious. For dinner, we ate at Essex. We all had something different and nothing disappointed. This was very close to the Color Factory and Lip Lab which was very convenient. For lunch in Brooklyn, we enjoyed delicious pizza at Juliana’s Pizza. I highly recommend getting there a little early because it packed out quickly with a long line down the street. A perfect last meal to end a fun-filled weekend.

Our bachelorette trip to New York City was packed with laughter, adventure, and unforgettable moments. From the dizzying heights of the Empire State Building to the artistic fun at the Color Factory, we made the most of every minute. Whether you’re planning a bachelorette party or just a fun getaway with friends, NYC has something for everyone. Just remember to book popular spots like the Lip Lab and High Tea at The Plaza in advance, dress warmly, and get ready for an amazing time!

Happy travels!
