Long Weekend | Atlanta | Part 1

For some reason, I always find myself researching different trips, room prices, flight prices and just travel info in general. Very rarely do I get a chance to actually go on these trips, but planning is just as fun right? ;)

Recently, I came upon some great flights from NOLA to Atlanta and I had to jump on them. My best friend lives in Atlanta and I hadn’t seen her in 8 months (which is way too long). I found very cheap tickets on Spirit.com. Extra fees for every little thing seemed to be the only downside though. After some digging, I found a way around the fees. I opted out of all extra charges: picking your seat, early check-in, baggage, etc. Spirit allows you to have a free “personal item” as long as it fits their specified dimensions. So I went onto amazon using theri carry-on guide and found this bag which other reviewers had successfully used with spirit.

This bag is the smallest carry on I have ever used so I had to pack light and smart. I left out my laptop and big camera and opted to just bring my Polaroid printer (thanks, babe!) - find a similar one here. I researched the best way to pack and followed suit: rolling all of my clothes, shoving socks into shoes, and only brought exactly what I would need. This actually proved to be easier than I thought it would be. I realized during the process that I only wear about 3 of my shirts consistently – anyone else like this? My makeup bag is stuffed with makeup I rarely use. In order to fit everything I needed into this small bag, I could only bring the essentials: foundation, mascara, & lipstick. Luckily, my friend I'm staying with supplied me with soap, shampoo & conditioner which saved my a lot of room. I put all of my liquids in a ziplock within my actual makeup bag. After all of this condensing, I had room to spare! Lots in fact – which I utilized on the way home for souvenirs. No one at the boarding desks took a second glance at my bag. Needless to say, I was very impressed with myself.

I packed the following:

Essentials: Epipen, Claritin, Chargers, Purse/Wallet, Sunglasses & Bandaids Health & Beauty: Toothbrush, Toothpaste, Makeup, Makeup wipes, Nail polish, Sunscreen Clothes: 3 everyday shirts, 1 pajama set, 1 tank & shorts for hiking, 1 jean shorts, 1 jeans, socks & underwear

My flight to Atlanta was a breeze. I wore jeans, a black tank, a jacket, and sandals on the flight. I checked in the day before with the Spirit app, used my phone as a boarding pass, and had my ID ready. Not even the TSA could slow me down, and on the way home, the same simple process was repeated. My first experience flying solo (without family or coworkers) went perfectly.

Get ready for part 2 of this post with all of my Atlanta experiences – fun, food & more!

Cheers,

Gabby
